Adding a networked printer - Fedora 12
This is being done over the local network on a Fedora 12 laptop with a shared printer attached to a Windows XP box. I will set up and be able to use this printer as the default device for the laptop.
Select System > Administration > Printing.

Click on the new button. You will be prompted for the root password.

Once you enter the root password you will be left with the following dialog.

Select Network Printer and Windows Printer VIA Samba.

Click on the browse button at the top right of the dialog. This will search the network for shared printers. In my case it found 2 printers attached to the networked Windows box called mom. I'll be using the Epson printer.

Click the OK button and click Verify. The printer is verified.

Click the forward button to choose the printer driver.

Click the forward button to choose the printer model.

Click the forward button to add a description for the printer.

Click the apply button to finish adding the printer. You will need to verify with the root password once again.

You can now print a test page if you wish.

That's it. The new printer is now installed as the default printer and is available 24/7 for your printing pleasure!
